The SWR Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Liederhalle Stuttgart on June 25, 2026. The orchestra, based in Baden-Baden and Freiburg, is recognized for its broad repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary music, with a particular focus on German Romantic composers and a commitment to new works. It frequently collaborates with internationally renowned soloists and conductors, maintaining a tradition of high artistic standards established during its formation through the merging of the orchestras of South West German Broadcasting (SWR).
The Liederhalle Stuttgart is a significant concert and convention venue with a rich history. Opened in 1956, it was conceived as a cultural center following the extensive damage sustained by Stuttgart during World War II. Designed by architect Paul Bonatz, the building incorporates elements of post-war modernism while referencing classical architectural principles. The "Grosser Saal" (Great Hall), where the SWR Symphony Orchestra will perform, is celebrated for its excellent acoustics and elegant design. Beyond musical performances, the Liederhalle hosts conferences, exhibitions and other events contributing to Stuttgart’s cultural landscape. The hall has undergone renovations over the years to maintain its functionality and acoustic quality.
