Staatskapelle Dresden, one of the world’s oldest and most esteemed orchestras, will perform at Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona on May 10, 2027. The orchestra is renowned for its rich, warm sound and a historically informed performance practice deeply rooted in the Central European tradition. Its repertoire spans from Baroque to contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on the composers with whom it has long-standing associations – notably Richard Strauss, Carl Maria von Weber, and Richard Wagner. The orchestra’s style is often characterized by precision, expressive phrasing and a notable clarity of texture.

Palau de la Música Catalana, completed in 1908, is a modernist concert hall designed by Lluís Domènech i Montaner. A UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1997, it exemplifies Catalan Modernisme architecture. The building integrates stained glass, sculpture and mosaic work to create a visually stunning interior. Originally conceived as a space for choral societies associated with the Orfeó Català—a cultural organization promoting Catalan language and music—the Palau quickly became a prominent venue for all genres of musical performance. Its acoustics are highly regarded and contribute significantly to the concert experience.
