Experience Spanish Harlem Orchestra live on December 9th
Spanish Harlem Orchestra will perform at Yoshi’s Oakland on December 9, 2026. The group is a leading ensemble in the preservation and propagation of classic salsa dura, a hard-hitting, brass-focused style rooted in the New York salsa scene of the 1970s. Founded by pianist Ricky González, the orchestra features a full complement of horns – trumpets, trombones, and saxophones – alongside percussion, piano, bass, and vocalists. Their music draws heavily from the traditions established by figures like Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, and Willie Colón.
Yoshi’s Oakland is a renowned jazz and world music venue with a significant history in the Bay Area. Originally founded in Berkeley in 1974 by Yoshie Akiba, it quickly became a vital space for both established artists and emerging talent. The venue relocated to Jack London Square in Oakland in 2007. Yoshi’s is known for its intimate setting and high-quality sound system which allows for close engagement between performers and audience members. It consistently hosts internationally recognized musicians across diverse genres including jazz, Latin, blues and funk.
