Rundfunk-Sinfonieorchester Berlin (RSB) is renowned for its versatility, performing a broad repertoire spanning from early music to contemporary compositions. Historically rooted in radio broadcasting – originally founded in 1924 as a radio orchestra – the ensemble maintains a strong tradition of interpreting both standard orchestral works and championing new music. The RSB frequently collaborates with prominent conductors and soloists internationally and is known for its distinctive sound, often described as possessing both power and precision.

The concert will take place at Haus des Rundfunks, the broadcasting center of the public-service broadcaster RBB (Radio Berlin Brandenburg). Completed in 1931, the building represents a significant example of Neue Sachlichkeit architectural style. Designed by Heinrich Straumer, it was intended to be a state-of-the-art facility for radio broadcasting during the Weimar Republic. During World War II, the building suffered damage but was subsequently restored.

Haus des Rundfunks’ main concert hall, the Großer Sendesaal, is particularly noted for its acoustic qualities which were significantly improved through renovations in the early 2000s.
