Kian Soltani is an Iranian-German cellist recognized for his deeply expressive and technically assured performances. His musical approach is often described as combining a Romantic sensibility with a meticulous attention to detail, drawing comparisons to artists like Rostropovich while maintaining a distinctly individual voice. He frequently performs both standard cello repertoire and contemporary works, demonstrating versatility across different periods and styles. Soltani gained prominence after winning the International Cello Competition Pablo Casals in 2017.
The concert will take place at the Berliner Philharmonie, a renowned concert hall located in Berlin, Germany. Completed in 1963, it is the home of the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra and a major venue for classical music performances. Designed by architect Hans Scharoun, the Philharmonie is notable for its asymmetrical vineyard-style seating arrangement, intended to create a closer connection between performers and audience. The hall’s acoustics are highly regarded, resulting from extensive research and design considerations focused on sound diffusion and clarity. It underwent significant renovation between 2013 and 2015 to further enhance its acoustic properties and modernize facilities while preserving Scharoun’s original architectural vision.
