Classical Concerts in City of Edinburgh

Experience Rachel Podger live on December 17th

Rachel Podger will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on December 17, 2026. Podger is a highly regarded British baroque violinist known for her historically informed performance practice. Her style emphasizes clarity, expressive phrasing, and a vibrant tonal palette, often utilizing original or meticulously reconstructed instruments and bow techniques appropriate to the composers’ eras. She frequently performs solo Bach and collaborates with leading period instrument ensembles.

The Queen’s Hall is a significant concert venue in Edinburgh, Scotland. Opened in 1979 following a campaign to save the former Free High Church building from demolition, it was converted into a performance space while retaining many of its original architectural features, including stained glass windows and a prominent dome. The building itself dates back to 1823-25, designed by Thomas Hamilton. It has hosted a diverse range of performances encompassing classical music, jazz, world music, and spoken word events. The hall is noted for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere despite its capacity of approximately 900 seats. It plays a key role in Edinburgh’s cultural landscape and is regularly used during the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
