Classical Concerts in City of Edinburgh

Experience Rachel Podger live on December 10th

Rachel Podger will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on December 10, 2026. Podger is a highly acclaimed British Baroque violinist, known for her historically informed performance practice. Her playing is characterised by a vibrant and expressive tone, a focus on ornamentation and articulation reflective of 17th and 18th-century styles, and a commitment to using instruments and techniques appropriate to the period. She frequently performs solo Bach and collaborates with ensembles specializing in early music.

The Queen’s Hall opened in 1979 following a public campaign to save the former Free High Church building from demolition. Designed by architects Gillespie, Kidd & Coia, it was converted into a concert hall while retaining much of the church’s original Gothic Revival architecture. The hall quickly became a significant venue for classical music, jazz, folk, and other genres. It is renowned for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere, seating approximately 900 people. Throughout its history, The Queen’s Hall has hosted performances by internationally renowned artists and continues to be a central hub for cultural events in Edinburgh. The building also houses smaller spaces used for rehearsals, workshops and community activities.
