Protomartyr, a Detroit-based post-punk band formed in 2010, will be performing at The Far Out Lounge & Stage in Austin, Texas on October 31st, 2026. Their music is characterized by its stark, minimalist arrangements, often featuring driving basslines, angular guitar work, and Joe Casey’s distinctive, spoken-word/shouted vocals. Lyrically, Protomartyr frequently explores themes of urban decay, societal anxieties, and existential dread. The band has released four studio albums – *Protomartyr* (2012), *The Agent Intellect* (2014), *Relatives* (2017), and *For Immediate Release* (2020) – receiving critical acclaim for their uncompromising sound and intense live performances.

The Far Out Lounge & Stage is a relatively new venue in Austin’s live music scene, opening in 2023. Located on South Congress Avenue, it has quickly become known for hosting a diverse range of both established and emerging artists across genres including indie rock, punk, and experimental music.
