American Patchwork Quartet will perform at The Paramount Theatre in Austin, Texas on October 8, 2026. The quartet is recognized for its innovative blend of jazz, classical, and American roots music, often incorporating improvisation and extended techniques. Their compositions frequently draw inspiration from diverse sources including folk melodies, spirituals, and contemporary soundscapes, resulting in a uniquely textured and evocative musical experience.

The Paramount Theatre originally opened in 1915 as a vaudeville house, quickly becoming a central entertainment venue for Austin. Initially named the Majestic Theatre, it was renamed the Paramount in 1930 following a renovation and conversion to a movie palace showcasing sound films. Throughout its history, the theatre hosted performances by numerous prominent artists across various disciplines.

In 1976, facing potential demolition, the Paramount was saved by a community-led non-profit organization dedicated to its preservation and restoration. Today, it operates as a historic performing arts center hosting film screenings, live music events, theatrical productions and other cultural programs. The building’s architecture reflects a combination of styles including Beaux-Arts and Italian Renaissance Revival elements; it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
