Experience Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra live on November 14th
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts on November 14, 2026. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is internationally recognized for its artistic excellence and commitment to innovative programming. Historically rooted in the Romantic tradition, the orchestra’s sound is often described as rich and nuanced, with a strong emphasis on both established repertoire and contemporary compositions. It has a long history of commissioning new works and fostering relationships with leading soloists.
Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts originally opened in 1924 as the Loew’s Penn Theatre, a lavish movie palace built during the height of the atmospheric theatre movement. Designed by William H. Gable, it featured an ornate interior intended to transport audiences to a 16th-century Venetian courtyard. In 1979, after years of decline following changes in moviegoing habits, it was extensively renovated and reopened as Heinz Hall, becoming the permanent home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The building retains many of its original architectural features, including a stunning ceiling and intricate detailing, while incorporating modern acoustic enhancements to optimize the concert experience. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and remains a significant landmark in downtown Pittsburgh.
