Experience Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra live on October 25th
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts on October 25, 2026. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is internationally recognized for its artistic excellence and innovative programming, typically performing works spanning the standard orchestral repertoire from Baroque to contemporary compositions. The orchestra is known for a rich sound and a tradition of strong principal playing, often undertaking recordings and tours alongside its Pittsburgh performances.
Heinz Hall, originally known as the Loew’s Penn Theatre, opened in 1927 as a movie palace during the height of the atmospheric theatre movement. Designed by William H. Gable, it showcased opulent interiors intended to transport audiences to a 16th-century Venetian courtyard. Facing potential demolition in the 1960s, a civic campaign led by enthusiastic citizens secured its future as a performing arts venue. Renovated and reopened as Heinz Hall in 1971, it became the permanent home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. The hall’s acoustics have been continually refined over the years to accommodate orchestral performances while retaining much of its original architectural grandeur. It remains a significant landmark in downtown Pittsburgh and a key component of the city’s cultural landscape.
