Experience Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra live on October 23rd
The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra will perform at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts on October 23, 2026. The Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is internationally recognized for its artistic excellence and commitment to innovation, frequently performing standard orchestral repertoire alongside contemporary works. Historically, the orchestra has been known for a rich, warm string sound and a dedication to American composers.
Heinz Hall, originally built as the Loew’s Penn Theatre in 1927, is a significant example of atmospheric theatre architecture from the late 1920s. Designed by architects William H. Gable and Frederick C. Musser, the interior features an elaborate Spanish Baroque design intended to evoke an open-air courtyard under a starry sky. The building underwent extensive renovations in the 1960s to transform it into a premier concert venue specifically tailored for orchestral performance, becoming the permanent home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 1970. These renovations focused on improving acoustics and adapting the space for symphonic sound while preserving much of its original architectural detail. The hall's acoustics are highly regarded within the orchestral music community.
