Experience Pierre-Laurent Aimard live on August 26th
Pierre-Laurent Aimard will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on August 26, 2026. Aimard is internationally recognised as a leading pianist, particularly noted for his interpretations of 20th and 21st-century composers such as György Ligeti, Olivier Messiaen (whose complete piano works he has recorded), and György Kurtág, alongside core classical repertoire. His playing is frequently described as possessing both intellectual rigor and a deeply expressive quality, demonstrating a meticulous approach to structure and nuance.
The Queen’s Hall opened in 1979 following a public campaign to save the former Free High Church building on Giles Street. Originally constructed between 1822 and 1825 by architect Thomas Hamilton, the building underwent significant renovation to transform it into a concert hall while preserving its original neo-classical facade and incorporating its distinctive stained-glass windows. It quickly became a central venue for the Edinburgh International Festival and remains a key location for classical music performances, as well as hosting events across various genres including jazz, folk, and contemporary music. The hall is known for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere, seating approximately 900 people.
