Peter Evans, a trumpeter recognized for his intensely virtuosic and often exploratory approach to free improvisation and avant-garde jazz, will perform at Bimhuis in Amsterdam on August 29, 2026. Evans’s playing is characterized by extended techniques, rapid-fire articulation, and a willingness to push the boundaries of traditional trumpet sound – frequently incorporating multiphonics and electronic processing. He has collaborated extensively with musicians across a diverse range of genres, including those within the experimental music and noise scenes.

Bimhuis, opened in 1974, is a renowned jazz club located along the Amstel River in Amsterdam. Originally established as a cooperative by musicians seeking a dedicated performance space, it quickly became central to the Dutch jazz scene and gained international recognition for its consistently high-quality programming. The current building, designed by architect Kees van Berkel and completed in 2005, offers excellent acoustics and sightlines. It hosts performances spanning various jazz styles – from traditional to contemporary – alongside related genres like world music and improvised music. Bimhuis operates as a non-profit foundation dedicated to supporting live music and artistic development. Its history includes hosting performances by many internationally acclaimed jazz artists.
