Bobo Stenson Trio will perform at Bimhuis in Amsterdam on October 17, 2026. The trio, led by Swedish pianist Bobo Stenson, is recognized for its lyrical and harmonically rich improvisational jazz, deeply rooted in Scandinavian folk music traditions and influenced by the modal jazz of Keith Jarrett and Paul Bley. Their sound often features spacious arrangements, subtle interplay between musicians, and a contemplative atmosphere. The current lineup includes Jon Christensen on drums and Anders Jormin on bass, both long-standing collaborators with Stenson.

Bimhuis, established in 1974, is a renowned jazz club situated on the banks of the Amstel River in Amsterdam. Originally operating as an underground venue due to licensing issues – hence its initial location in a bicycle storage room – it quickly gained international recognition for hosting leading figures in jazz and improvised music. In 2003, Bimhuis relocated to a purpose-built building designed by architect Claus & Kaan Architecten, offering improved acoustics and facilities while maintaining its intimate club atmosphere. It continues to function as a significant cultural hub for both established and emerging artists within the jazz scene and beyond, regularly featuring performances across diverse subgenres.
