Nik Bärtsch’s Ronin will perform at LantarenVenster in Rotterdam, Netherlands on April 30, 2027. Ronin’s music is characterized by a unique blend of jazz improvisation, minimalist composition, and elements of ritualistic Japanese music – specifically *gagaku* and *noh* theatre. Bärtsch refers to this approach as “functional harmony,” prioritizing rhythmic and sonic textures over traditional harmonic progressions. LantarenVenster is a cultural centre located in Rotterdam’s Kop van Zuid district.
