Pedro Halffter’s compositions will be featured in a concert at the Teatro Real Carlos III de Aranjuez on July 3, 2026. Halffter (1905-1987) was a prominent Spanish composer known for his modernist style, often incorporating serialism and atonality while remaining deeply rooted in Spanish folklore and traditions. His work frequently explores complex textures and rhythmic structures, demonstrating a significant influence from composers like Stravinsky and Bartók, yet retaining a distinctly Iberian character. He composed across numerous genres including opera, ballet, chamber music, and orchestral works.

The Teatro Real Carlos III de Aranjuez holds historical significance as a royal theatre commissioned by Charles III of Spain and inaugurated in 1771. It is considered one of the most important examples of Neoclassical architecture in Spain and was designed by Giovanni Battista Innocenti. The theatre experienced periods of disuse and restoration throughout its history, notably falling into decline after the Spanish Civil War.
