The Pavel Haas Quartet will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on August 28, 2026. The quartet is internationally renowned for its interpretations of string quartet literature, particularly that of Czech composers – notably Leos Janáček, after whom they are named – but their repertoire extends across several centuries, encompassing works by Beethoven, Dvořák, and contemporary composers. Their playing is characterized by a distinctive warm tonal quality, rhythmic precision, and a deeply expressive approach to phrasing. Formed in 1994, the quartet received crucial guidance from the Amadeus Quartet and Isaac Stern.
The Queen’s Hall is a prominent concert venue in Edinburgh, Scotland. Opened in 1979 following a public campaign to save the former Free High Church building from demolition, it has become a significant cultural hub. Originally constructed between 1822 and 1825 by architect Thomas Hamilton, the building features notable neoclassical architecture. It underwent substantial refurbishment in the early 2000s to improve acoustics and accessibility.
