Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century will perform at Amare, The Hague on February 6, 2027. The orchestra specializes in historically informed performance practice, focusing on music composed primarily before 1830. They are known for utilizing period instruments and striving for performance styles reflective of the eras in which the works were originally created, aiming to recreate the sound world composers like Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven would have known.
Amare is a modern cultural complex in The Hague, Netherlands, inaugurated in September 2021. It houses the Residentie Orkest (Residentie Orchestra), the Nederlands Dans Theater (Netherlands Dance Theatre), and operates as a venue for a variety of performances including opera, concerts, dance and theatre. The building itself replaced the former Lucent Danstheater and Stadsschouwburg (city theatre) and is situated on the Spui square, central to The Hague’s cultural landscape. Its design incorporates multiple halls – the Grote Zaal (Main Hall), the Kleine Zaal (Small Hall), and Studio 1 – offering varied capacities and atmospheres for different events. Amare aims to be an inclusive space fostering artistic collaboration and public engagement with the performing arts.
