Experience Melissa Aldana live on November 8th
Melissa Aldana, a Chilean-American saxophonist and composer, will perform at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Germany on November 8, 2026. Aldana’s musical style is rooted in post-bop jazz, characterized by lyrical improvisation, harmonic complexity, and a distinctive emotional depth. She frequently draws inspiration from poetry and visual art, translating these influences into her compositions and solos. Her work often explores themes of identity, memory, and personal narrative. Aldana gained prominence as the first female instrumentalist to win the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition in 2013.
The Elbphilharmonie itself is a landmark concert hall situated in the HafenCity district of Hamburg. Completed in 2017 after a decade of construction and significant cost overruns, it stands atop an old warehouse building (the Kaispeicher A). Designed by Swiss architects Herzog & de Meuron, its striking glass facade and wave-like roof have made it an iconic symbol of the city. The hall is renowned for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through the innovative “White Skin” interior design by Yasuhisa Toyota which utilizes custom-made gypsum fiber panels.
