Experience María Dueñas live on June 11th
María Dueñas will perform at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 11, 2027. Dueñas is a Spanish classical guitarist known for her interpretations of both established repertoire and lesser-known works, particularly those of Spanish composers. Her style is characterized by technical precision, expressive phrasing, and a commitment to conveying the emotional depth of the music. She frequently performs solo recitals and with orchestras internationally, receiving recognition for revitalizing interest in classical guitar.
Heinz Hall originally opened in 1924 as the Loew’s Penn Theatre, a lavish movie palace designed by William H. Gable. It operated as a cinema until 1968 when it faced potential demolition. A community fundraising effort led by the Pittsburgh Symphony Society secured its preservation and conversion into a performing arts center. The hall became the permanent home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 1970.
Renovations have occurred over the decades to enhance acoustics and modernize facilities while maintaining its historic architectural details, including ornate plasterwork and a grand ballroom.
