Experience Marco Mezquida live on August 8th

Marco Mezquida will perform at the Royal Monastery of Brou in Bourg-en-Bresse, France on August 8, 2026. Mezquida is a Spanish pianist and composer known for a distinctive musical style blending jazz improvisation with elements of contemporary classical music, flamenco, and Argentinian tango. His compositions often feature intricate rhythmic structures and harmonic explorations, showcasing both technical virtuosity and emotional depth. He frequently performs solo and with various ensembles, demonstrating a commitment to cross-genre collaboration.

The Royal Monastery of Brou is a significant example of late Gothic and Renaissance architecture in France. Commissioned in 1509 by Margaret of Austria, Duchess of Savoy, it served as a collegiate church and mausoleum for her and her husband Philibert II, Duke of Savoy. Construction spanned several decades, concluding in the mid-16th century. The monastery complex comprises a church, cloister, and several chapels, richly decorated with sculptures and paintings reflecting the artistic trends of the period. It’s considered a masterpiece of Burgundian Gothic art and was designated as a historical monument in 1840. Today it functions as a museum displaying fine art collections alongside its architectural significance.
