Le Concert des Nations, founded in 1989 by Jordi Savall, is a French period instrument ensemble specializing in historically informed performance practice. The group focuses primarily on Baroque and Classical repertoire, aiming to recreate the sound world of the 17th, 18th, and early 19th centuries through meticulous research and the use of instruments contemporary to the composed works. Their interpretations are characterized by a lightness of texture, expressive phrasing, and a commitment to stylistic authenticity.
L'Auditori de Barcelona is the city’s main concert hall complex, inaugurated in 2003. Designed by Rafael Moneo, it is notable for its modern architectural style and exceptional acoustics. The complex houses two main halls: the Sala Sinfónica, home to the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona Nacional de Catalunya (OBC), and the Sala de Cambra, used for smaller ensembles and recitals. L'Auditori was conceived as part of a broader urban renewal project aimed at revitalizing the area surrounding Plaça de les Glòries Catalanes. It quickly became a central hub for musical activity in Barcelona and a prominent venue for both national and international artists.
