Laura van der Heijden, a Dutch-British cellist recognised for her deeply expressive and technically assured performances, will perform at City Halls, Glasgow on March 4th, 2027. Van der Heijden’s repertoire spans a broad range, from the standard classical works of Bach and Beethoven to contemporary compositions, often characterised by a rich tonal palette and nuanced phrasing. She gained prominence after winning the 2019 BBC Young Musician competition.
City Halls is a prominent concert venue in Glasgow, Scotland. Originally built in 1862 as a Free Church hall, it was designed by William Brittain MacNeece. The building underwent significant renovation and conversion into a dedicated concert hall in 1938 under the direction of W. Sinclair Guild. It is known for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere, seating approximately 470 people. Throughout its history, City Halls has hosted a diverse array of musical performances including classical recitals, jazz concerts and traditional Scottish music events. The venue is currently managed by Glasgow Life, part of Glasgow City Council, and remains an important cultural hub within the city.
