Kokoroko is a British jazz ensemble known for their Afrobeat-infused sound, blending elements of jazz harmony, West African rhythms, and soulful melodies. Formed in 2016 by bandleader Sheila Maurice-Grey, the group gained prominence through independent releases and word-of-mouth, becoming central figures in London’s contemporary jazz scene. Their music often features prominent horn sections and explores themes of identity and heritage. They have released an EP titled *Close Proximity* (2017) and a debut album *Why We Dance* (2022).
