Hiromi, a Japanese pianist and composer, will perform at Spot Groningen on September 10, 2026. Her musical style is characterized by a fusion of jazz improvisation with elements of classical, progressive rock, and world music. Often described as virtuosic and energetic, her compositions frequently feature complex harmonies, intricate rhythms, and dynamic shifts in tempo and texture. Hiromi began playing piano at age six, initially focusing on classical training before transitioning to jazz in high school. She gained international recognition after winning the 1999 Grand Prix at the Tokyo College Jazz Festival and subsequently studying at the Berklee College of Music.

Spot Groningen is a relatively new concert venue in the city of Groningen, Netherlands, opening its doors in September 2023. It’s designed as a multi-functional space accommodating a variety of performances including concerts, theatre productions and dance events. The venue is notable for its focus on high-quality sound and intimate atmosphere; it has a capacity of approximately 700 people for standing concerts and 500 seated. Spot Groningen aims to be a key contributor to the cultural landscape of Groningen and northern Netherlands by hosting both established artists and emerging talent.
