Kian Soltani, a celebrated Iranian-German cellist, will perform at the Kulturpalast in Dresden on January 22, 2027. Soltani is recognized for his deeply expressive and technically assured performances of both standard cello repertoire and lesser-known works. His playing is often described as possessing a rich tone and a compelling emotional depth, drawing comparisons to artists like Rostropovich. He frequently collaborates with prominent orchestras and conductors internationally, showcasing a versatility that spans Baroque to contemporary music.

The Kulturpalast itself holds significant cultural importance for Dresden. Originally opened in 1964, it served as the central venue for cultural events in East Germany, hosting concerts, operas, ballet performances, and congresses. Heavily damaged during the bombing of Dresden in World War II and subsequently rebuilt in the socialist architectural style, it represented a symbol of cultural revival within the GDR.

Following extensive renovations completed in 2017, the Kulturpalast now functions as a multi-purpose venue accommodating the Semperoper ballet company alongside concert performances and other events.
