Experience Katharina Wincor live on July 2nd
Katharina Wincor, an Austrian composer and pianist, will perform at the Konzerthaus Berlin’s Großer Saal on July 2nd, 2026. Her musical style is often described as atmospheric and emotionally resonant, frequently incorporating elements of neo-romanticism with contemporary harmonic language. Wincor’s compositions often explore themes of nature, spirituality, and inner landscapes, characterized by a lyrical melodic sense and a focus on textural nuance. She is known for both her solo piano works and chamber music compositions.
The Konzerthaus Berlin’s Großer Saal holds significant historical and architectural importance. Originally built in 1821 as the Schauspielhaus, it was redesigned in 1873 by architect Julius Hennicke, resulting in its current horseshoe-shaped design inspired by the Teatro alla Scala in Milan. This configuration is renowned for its exceptional acoustics and intimate atmosphere despite its considerable size – seating approximately 1,964 people. Throughout its history, the hall has hosted performances by numerous celebrated musicians including Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy who premiered several works there as conductor. It underwent extensive renovation between 2018-2021 to modernize facilities while preserving its historical character.
