Jan Lisiecki will perform at Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on March 5, 2027. Lisiecki is a Polish-Canadian pianist renowned for his poetic interpretations and technical precision. His repertoire spans from the core Classical and Romantic periods – particularly Mozart, Beethoven, and Chopin – to 20th and 21st-century composers like Prokofiev and Adès. He is noted for his insightful phrasing and mature musicality despite beginning his international career at a young age.
Heinz Hall, originally known as the Loew’s Penn Theatre, opened in 1924 as a lavish movie palace during the height of the atmospheric theatre movement. Designed by William H. Gable, it showcased ornate architectural details inspired by European Renaissance palaces. The building underwent extensive renovation in the 1960s to transform it into a premier performing arts center, becoming the home of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in 1970. The hall is recognized for its excellent acoustics and Beaux-Arts style interior, maintaining much of its original grandeur while serving as a versatile venue for orchestral performances, Broadway shows, popular music concerts, and other events. It is a designated Historic Landmark.
