Iveta Apkalna is a Latvian organist internationally recognized for her virtuosic technique and interpretations of both traditional and contemporary organ repertoire. Her performances are noted for their dynamic range, coloristic subtlety, and a willingness to explore lesser-known works alongside established classics. She frequently commissions new pieces, expanding the instrument’s modern repertoire, and is known for improvisational skills.

The concert on December 31st, 2026 will take place at the Kulturpalast Dresden. Originally constructed between 1964 and 1968, the Kulturpalast served as the central cultural venue of East Germany, embodying socialist architectural principles. Designed by Heinz Quiel, it was a significant example of post-war reconstruction and a focal point for state-sponsored cultural events.

Following extensive renovations completed in 2017, the Kulturpalast now functions as a multi-purpose venue housing the Dresden Philharmonic orchestra as well as spaces for conferences, exhibitions and other cultural presentations. The building retains its original modernist structure but incorporates updated technology and accessibility features.
