Hieroglyphic Being, the musical project of Jamal Moss, will perform at Public Records in Brooklyn, New York on August 22, 2026. Moss’s work is generally categorized as experimental electronic music, drawing heavily from Chicago house, techno, and jazz improvisation. His productions are characterized by complex polyrhythms, fragmented samples, and a distinctly spiritual or cosmic aesthetic often referencing Afrofuturism and ancient Egyptian symbolism – reflected in his project’s name. He frequently employs live instrumentation alongside electronic elements, resulting in performances that are both danceable and intellectually stimulating.
Public Records, located in Gowanus, Brooklyn, opened in 2020. The venue is designed as a multi-functional space encompassing a restaurant, bar, and performance areas.
