Håkan Hardenberger, a Swedish trumpeter renowned for his interpretations of 20th and 21st-century repertoire, will perform at The Queen’s Hall in Edinburgh on March 4th, 2027. Hardenberger’s playing is characterized by a lyrical tone and technical precision, frequently focusing on works originally conceived for the trumpet alongside transcriptions and commissions from contemporary composers like Torsten Nilsson and Anders Hillborg. He is widely considered a leading figure in the performance of modern trumpet music.
The Queen’s Hall occupies a historically significant building in Edinburgh. Originally built between 1822 and 1823 as the Hope Park Free Church, it was designed by Thomas Hamilton. Following its closure as a church in 1928, the building underwent periods of use as a cinema and then a warehouse before being meticulously restored and reopened as a concert hall in 1979.
The venue is known for its excellent acoustics and intimate atmosphere, seating approximately 900 people. It hosts a diverse range of performances including classical music concerts, jazz, folk music, and spoken word events, becoming an integral part of Edinburgh’s cultural landscape.
