Gustavo Gimeno will conduct a performance at Roy Thomson Hall in Toronto on April 29, 2027. Gimeno is a Venezuelan-Spanish conductor known for his dynamic interpretations and a repertoire spanning from Baroque to contemporary works, with a particular affinity for Spanish and Latin American composers. His conducting style is often described as possessing clarity, rhythmic precision, and emotional depth, drawing out nuanced performances from orchestras. He currently serves as Music Director of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, a position he assumed in 2020.

Roy Thomson Hall, opened in 1982, is Toronto’s primary concert hall and home to the Toronto Symphony Orchestra. Designed by Elgin & Chase Architects, it’s renowned for its exceptional acoustics, consistently ranked among the best in the world. The hall was named in recognition of a substantial donation from Roy Thomson, 1st Baron Thomson of Fleet, a Canadian-British newspaper publisher. Its design incorporates a ‘shoe-box’ shape considered ideal for orchestral sound and features extensive use of maple wood throughout the interior. The hall regularly hosts a diverse range of performances beyond classical music including popular artists and events; however it remains fundamentally dedicated to acoustic music performance.
