Experience Gauthier Toux live on August 30th
Gauthier Toux is a French composer and performer specializing in musique concrète and electroacoustic music, often incorporating field recordings and found sounds into intricately layered compositions. His work frequently explores the relationship between acoustic environments, memory, and narrative, creating immersive and often cinematic soundscapes. He is known for his meticulous sound design and a focus on spatialization within performance spaces.
The Grande Halle de la Villette, located in the 19th arrondissement of Paris, is a significant venue with a rich history. Originally constructed for the 1989 Bicentennial of the French Revolution, it was designed by Patrick Berger and Jean Ducler. The hall’s distinctive architecture features a large, adaptable space capable of hosting diverse events – concerts, exhibitions, sporting competitions, and more – with a capacity exceeding 5,000 people.
Before becoming a dedicated performance venue, the Grande Halle served as a wine market during the 19th century. Its industrial aesthetic remains partially preserved, contributing to its unique atmosphere. The venue is part of the larger Parc de la Villette complex which includes concert halls, theatres and cultural spaces.
