Theater aan de Schie, located in Schiedam, Netherlands, is a historic venue originally built as a shipping warehouse in 1886 by the Holland America Line. It served as a departure point for emigrants travelling to North America for many years. In 2017, following extensive renovations led by architect Mecanoo, it reopened as a cultural center dedicated to contemporary performing arts, including theatre, dance, music and film. The building retains much of its industrial character – exposed steel structures and high ceilings – creating a unique atmosphere that contrasts with its modern functionality. The theatre is known for its intimate setting and commitment to showcasing innovative work. It's capacity is approximately 600 people seated.
