Fabien Gabel, a French-Australian composer and conductor, will present a concert at the Sydney Opera House on August 12, 2026. Gabel’s musical style is often described as neo-romantic, blending contemporary harmonic language with melodic sensibilities reminiscent of late 19th and early 20th-century composers. His work frequently incorporates elements of cinematic scoring and explores themes of nature and human emotion. He is known for composing for both orchestral and chamber ensembles, often collaborating with visual artists and filmmakers.

The Sydney Opera House, the venue for this performance, is a multi-venue performing arts centre at Bennelong Point in Sydney Harbour. Officially opened in 1973, it was designed by Danish architect Jørn Utzon. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2007, its distinctive design features a series of precast concrete “shells” forming its roofs. The building houses multiple performance spaces including the Concert Hall, Joan Sutherland Theatre, Drama Theatre, Playhouse and Studio.
