Ensemble Resonanz is a Hamburg-based chamber orchestra known for its innovative approach to classical and contemporary music. The ensemble frequently breaks down traditional concert formats, often performing without a conductor and prioritizing close collaboration amongst musicians. Their repertoire spans from Baroque to newly commissioned works, with a particular focus on exploring the boundaries between genres and incorporating elements of improvisation. They are recognized for their nuanced interpretations and commitment to adventurous programming.
The Philharmonie Berlin, situated in the Kulturforum, is a renowned concert hall with significant historical and architectural importance. Completed in 1963, it was designed by Hans Scharoun and is celebrated for its asymmetrical, vineyard-style seating arrangement which provides excellent acoustics and sightlines for all audience members. The hall quickly became a central venue for classical music performance after opening, hosting leading orchestras and soloists internationally. It underwent extensive renovation completed in 2022, enhancing its acoustic properties further while preserving Scharoun’s original design intent. The Philharmonie Berlin is the home of the Berliner Philharmoniker but also welcomes guest ensembles like Ensemble Resonanz for performances.
