DR SymfoniOrkestret (the Danish National Symphony Orchestra) is recognized for its broad repertoire, encompassing works from the classical canon alongside contemporary compositions. The orchestra frequently commissions new pieces and actively promotes Danish music, exhibiting a commitment to both tradition and innovation within the orchestral landscape. Historically rooted in Danish radio broadcasting – “DR” stands for *Danmarks Radio* – the orchestra has evolved into a nationally esteemed ensemble with international touring engagements.

The concert on September 18th, 2026 will be held at DR Koncerthuset in Copenhagen. Opened in 2009, DR Koncerthuset serves as the primary performance venue for DR SymfoniOrkestret and other musical groups. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the building is architecturally notable for its distinctive blue-grey façade composed of glass and steel, intended to reflect the harbor’s light.

Internally, the Koncerthuset features several halls, with the main concert hall boasting exceptional acoustics specifically engineered for orchestral performance. The building was conceived as part of a larger urban development project aiming to revitalize the Østerbro district of Copenhagen and provide a world-class facility dedicated to music.
