Classical Concerts in Copenhagen

Experience DR SymfoniOrkestret live on September 17th

DR SymfoniOrkestret (the Danish National Symphony Orchestra) is renowned for its broad repertoire spanning classical and contemporary works, with a particular emphasis on Danish composers and a commitment to innovative programming. The orchestra frequently performs standard orchestral literature alongside commissions and premieres, maintaining a high standard of performance recognized internationally through recordings and tours.

The concert on September 17, 2026, will take place at DR Koncerthuset (the Danish Broadcasting Corporation Concert Hall) in Copenhagen. Opened in 2009, DR Koncerthuset serves as the primary venue for DR SymfoniOrkestret and other musical ensembles. Designed by Jean Nouvel, the building is notable for its distinctive blue-grey granite facade and its four uniquely shaped halls – the Concert Hall, Studio 2, Studio 3, and the smaller Thorvaldsen Hall.

The Concert Hall itself is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics, achieved through careful design considerations prioritizing sound quality. It’s intended as a modern architectural landmark contributing to Copenhagen’s cultural landscape. DR Koncerthuset was built to replace the aging Radiohuset studio facilities and provide a dedicated space for high-quality music performance and broadcasting.
