DR SymfoniOrkestret, the Danish National Symphony Orchestra, is recognized for its broad repertoire spanning classical and contemporary works. While rooted in the traditional orchestral sound, the ensemble frequently commissions and performs music by contemporary Danish and international composers, alongside interpretations of established masters. The orchestra has a long history, originating from the Danish Radio Symphony Orchestra founded in 1925, and is known for its high artistic standards and extensive recording output.

The concert on August 13th, 2026 will be held at DR Koncerthuset, Copenhagen’s premier concert hall. Opened in 2009, DR Koncerthuset was designed by Jean Nouvel and is notable for its distinctive copper-clad exterior and exceptional acoustics. The building houses four separate halls – the Concert Hall (the primary venue for DR SymfoniOrkestret), Studio 2, Studio 3, and Torvet – each designed to accommodate different performance needs.

The architecture intentionally aimed to create a welcoming public space as well as a world-class musical venue; “Torvet” (the square) is a publicly accessible area within the building intended to foster interaction with music.
