Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO Berlin) is renowned for its historically informed performance practice alongside a commitment to contemporary music. Designed by Hans Scharoun, the building intentionally avoids traditional shoebox concert hall shapes, instead featuring terraced seating surrounding the stage and an asymmetrical interior intended to foster a closer connection between performers and audience.
