Experience Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin live on January 31st
Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin (DSO Berlin) is renowned for its historically informed performance practice alongside a commitment to contemporary music. The orchestra frequently explores a wide range of repertoire, from Baroque to 21st-century compositions, and is known for its clarity of sound and dynamic interpretations. Founded in 1946 as the RIAS Symphony Orchestra, it evolved to become a leading German ensemble, independent of public broadcasting since 1989.
The concert on January 31, 2027, will take place at the Philharmonie Berlin. Opened in 1963, the Philharmonie is celebrated for its exceptional acoustics and distinctive architectural design. Designed by Hans Scharoun, the building intentionally avoids traditional shoebox concert hall shapes, instead featuring terraced seating surrounding the stage and an asymmetrical interior intended to foster a closer connection between performers and audience. It’s considered one of the most important concert halls in the world and has been home to the Berliner Philharmoniker but regularly hosts performances by other orchestras including DSO Berlin. The hall underwent significant renovation completed in 2013 enhancing both acoustic properties and facilities.
