Jazz Concerts in Bergen

Experience Bugge Wesseltoft live on December 6th

Bugge Wesseltoft is a Norwegian jazz pianist and composer known for his innovative blend of jazz improvisation with electronic music elements, often incorporating samples and atmospheric soundscapes. His work frequently explores the intersection of acoustic and electronic textures, earning him recognition as a pioneer in the “nu jazz” or “electronic jazz” scene. He has released numerous albums under his own name and collaborated with diverse artists across genres.

Grieg Hall (Grieghallen) in Bergen, Norway, is the city’s primary concert venue and one of Scandinavia’s largest. Opened in 1978, it is named after Norwegian composer Edvard Grieg, whose remains are interred nearby in a memorial grave. The hall comprises several spaces, including the main Grieg Hall seating approximately 2,200 people, known for its excellent acoustics and architectural design featuring extensive use of wood.

The hall regularly hosts a wide range of performances including classical music concerts (particularly those featuring the Bergen Philharmonic Orchestra – its resident orchestra), pop and rock concerts, theatrical productions, and conferences. It serves as a significant cultural hub for Bergen and Western Norway, playing a key role in the region's artistic life.
