Experience Boston Symphony Orchestra live on August 7th
The Boston Symphony Orchestra will perform at the Koussevitzky Music Shed in Lenox, Massachusetts on August 7, 2026. The Boston Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1881, is internationally renowned for its rich sound and commitment to both standard repertoire and contemporary works. Historically, the orchestra has been associated with a distinctly American orchestral style – characterized by a powerful brass section and a warm string tone – though under various music directors it has demonstrated stylistic flexibility.
The Koussevitzky Music Shed is an open-air concert venue located on the grounds of Tanglewood, the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Constructed in 1938, it was a gift from Mrs. Henry Whitcomb, in memory of her husband, and named in honor of Serge Koussevitzky, the orchestra’s music director from 1924 to 1949. Koussevitzky was instrumental in establishing Tanglewood as a major musical center and championed many composers of his era.
