Blockhead, the alias of Anthony Braxton, will perform at Batofar in Paris, France on September 19, 2026. Blockhead’s musical style is generally categorized as instrumental hip-hop, characterized by intricate drum programming, melancholic melodies, and a distinctive use of sampling. His work frequently incorporates elements of jazz, electronica, and downtempo beats, often described as atmospheric and emotionally resonant. He has released several albums on Ninja Tune and has also produced for artists like Aesop Rock.

Batofar is a Parisian venue known for its unique setting – a converted barge permanently moored on the Seine river near the Pont d'Austerlitz. Originally a German cargo ship built in 1917 and named the “Constant,” it was acquired by David Rousseau and transformed into a club in 1998. Beyond hosting musical performances spanning electronic, rock and alternative genres, Batofar also functions as a cultural space encompassing art exhibitions and film screenings. The venue is recognized for its industrial aesthetic and intimate atmosphere despite its relatively large capacity. It underwent significant renovations following a fire in 2015 but continues to operate as a prominent fixture within Paris’s nightlife scene.
