Blockhead (born Tony Simon) is an American musician, producer, and DJ central to the instrumental hip-hop scene since the late 1990s. Initially gaining recognition for his work with anticon., a collectively-owned independent record label he co-founded in 1999, Blockhead quickly established a signature sound characterized by melancholic piano melodies, intricate drum programming, and sample-based construction.

His debut album, *Music By Cavelight* (2003), solidified this style and garnered critical acclaim. He’s released numerous albums including *Separation Anxiety* (2004), *The Music That Now Sleeps* (2007), and *Free Fall* (2016), consistently praised for their emotional depth and cinematic quality. Beyond solo work, Blockhead has produced extensively for artists like Aesop Rock (“Daylight”), El-P, and Murs.

He's also known for his distinctive DJ sets incorporating turntablism and beat juggling. Blockhead’s music has been featured in television shows like *Entourage* and video games like *Grand Theft Auto*.
