Bach Collegium Japan will perform at Chofu-Shi Green Hall in Tokyo on June 26, 2026. The ensemble, founded by Masaaki Suzuki in 1995, is renowned for its historically informed performances of Baroque music, particularly the works of Johann Sebastian Bach. Their approach emphasizes clarity of texture, refined phrasing, and a vocal style informed by research into Baroque performance practice. Chofu-Shi Green Hall opened in 1992 as a cultural hub for the city of Chofu and the surrounding area. Designed by architect Mamoru Yamada, it is noted for its excellent acoustics and integration with the surrounding green space – hence the name “Green Hall”. The hall features a large concert hall with a capacity of approximately 1,000 seats and a smaller hall suitable for chamber music and recitals. It regularly hosts classical music performances, including orchestral concerts, chamber music series, and solo recitals, alongside other artistic events like dance and theatre.
