The Janoska Ensemble is a Slovakian ensemble known for its highly virtuosic and genre-bending approach to classical music. Rooted in classical training, their performances frequently incorporate elements of jazz, pop, and traditional folk music – particularly Romani music reflecting the family’s heritage. They are known for dynamic stage presence and improvisation within structured compositions, often rearranging well-known classical pieces with a fresh, contemporary flair. The ensemble consists of four members: Ara Malikian (violin), Federico Agostini (violin), Richard Gallardo (viola), and Zoltán Mátyás (cello).
Tokyo, as Japan’s capital and most populous prefecture, has a long history as a center for both traditional Japanese arts and the reception of Western classical music. Following the Meiji Restoration in the late 19th century, Tokyo rapidly modernized and embraced international cultural influences. The city boasts numerous world-class concert halls including Suntory Hall and Tokyo Opera City Concert Hall which frequently host performances by leading international orchestras and ensembles.
