Križanke, the venue for this concert, holds significant cultural importance in Ljubljana. Originally a complex of Carmelite monasteries dating back to the 17th century – “Križanke” translates to “Carmelites” – it was redesigned by the renowned architect Jože Plečnik in the 1930s. Plečnik transformed the ruins into an open-air theatre and a series of interconnected courtyards, creating a unique architectural ensemble that blends Baroque and Renaissance elements with his distinctive style.
