Amaro Freitas is a Brazilian pianist and composer whose work blends elements of jazz, classical music, and Brazilian popular music traditions, particularly *baião* and *xote* from the Northeast of Brazil. His compositions are characterized by intricate harmonies, dynamic improvisation, and a strong rhythmic drive, often incorporating electronic textures alongside acoustic instrumentation. Freitas frequently explores themes of memory, identity, and the cultural landscape of his homeland. He has released several critically acclaimed albums including "Rasif" and "Sertãojo".
Passionskirche, located in Berlin’s Kreuzberg district, holds historical significance as a former Protestant church completed in 1914. Designed by architect Franz Baumann, it represents a notable example of early Expressionist architecture in Berlin. During the Nazi era, the church became a center for resistance within the Confessing Church movement. Following substantial damage during World War II, Passionskirche underwent reconstruction and continued serving as a place of worship until 2018.
Currently, Passionskirche functions as a multi-purpose cultural venue hosting concerts, exhibitions and community events while retaining its architectural integrity.
