Experience Alexander Melnikov live on August 8th
Alexander Melnikov will perform at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Austria on August 8, 2026. Melnikov is a Russian pianist internationally recognized for his interpretations of composers such as Shostakovich, Prokofiev, and Schubert. His playing is often described as possessing a distinctive clarity and intellectual rigor, combined with a deeply felt emotional connection to the music. He frequently champions lesser-known works alongside established repertoire and is noted for his historically informed performance practice, particularly regarding articulation and phrasing.
The Mozarteum, formally the Stiftung Mozarteum, is a multifaceted institution deeply rooted in Salzburg’s musical heritage. Founded in 1841 by Mozart’s widow Constanze and her son Wolfgang Rieman, its initial purpose was to preserve Mozart’s legacy. Over time it evolved to encompass a university (the Mozarteum University Salzburg), a museum (Mozart’s Geburtshaus and Wohnhaus), and a concert venue – the Mozarteumsaal.
The Mozarteumsaal itself, built between 1914-1918 based on designs by Clemens Holzmeister, is renowned for its excellent acoustics and elegant architecture.
